How to setup your POP3 or IMAP Email on your i-phone

Set up a POP3 OR IMAP account on i-phone as follows:

Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendar / Add Account / Other
Add Mail Account
Name: <your name here> eg. Fred Flintstone
Address: <your e-mail address here>  eg.fred@yourdomain.com.au
Description: <your e-mail address here>  eg.fred@yourdomain.com.au
Password: <your e-mail password here>
Save
Select POP tab or IMAP tab
Host Name: <your mail server here> eg. mail.yourdomain.com.au
User Name: <your e-mail address here>  eg.fred@yourdomain.com.au
Password: <your e-mail password here>
Outgoing Mail Server:
Host Name: <your mail server here> eg. mail.yourdomain.com.au
User Name: <your e-mail address here>  eg.fred@yourdomain.com.au
Password: <your e-mail password here>
Save

You may get a requester that tells you ”certificate may not be valid ……” click continue.
You may also get the requester to try with or without SSL – accept this. The i-phone will try both types of connections and select one.
After 2-5 minutes the account is created and added to the available list.
If you quit before the account is created you will need to start again.

If you need to reconfigure any settings after account is created:
Select account <your mail server> eg. mail.yourdomain.com.au
Scroll to bottom and select Advanced
Turn on SSL and server port selection. Use SSL, SMTP 465 with Outgoing Mailserver POP SSL,995 or 993 if using IMAP.
POP3 - Suggest you leave” Delete from server = Never”.
